6 All-Natural Skincare Tips for the Fall Season

Fall is an important time to revisit your skincare routine. We’re seeing cooler weather and less humidity which makes for stale air and more skin problems. Combine this with dry radiator heat and we see more eczema flare ups and cracking, itchy skin. In general, you want to evaluate skincare both seasonally and geographically. Here are 6 fall skincare tips that can apply to everyone.

1. Beware of Dry Air

Staying out of the cold is good for your skin but indoor heat can also take its toll. Central heating systems in both your home and office take moisture out of the air and can degrade the skin's natural moisture barrier, leading to flaking, cracking, and peeling. A small humidifier in your home can work wonders.

2. Stay Moisturized

Not all moisturizes are created equal. If your skin starts to feel dry and tight in the fall you might be using the wrong type of moisturizer. Our Land & Lore facial moisturizer combines intensely moisturizing hyaluronic acid with natural jojoba oil for an easy moisturizing solution to dry skin that doesn’t clog pores or leave a greasy feel.

3. Facial Oils are Essential

Facial oils are a great way to restore moisture balance during otherwise dry months. Our Land & Lore dry oil contains carefully chosen plant-based oils like rosehip and argan that provide antioxidants to fight free radicals while essential omega fatty acids smooth and plump fine lines and even skin tone by lightening dark spots. These oils are rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and moisture content.

4. Drink Plenty of Water

Believe it or not, healthy skin starts from within. While there are many different opinions on exactly how much water you should drink each day, we generally recommend 4 to 6 cups. If you have trouble remembering to drink water, you can still stay hydrated by incorporating hydrating foods into your diet. Cucumbers, lettuce, watermelon, and strawberries are all high in water content and low in sugar.

5. Rethink Exfoliators

Exfoliators create tiny cracks in the skin barrier that lead to loss of hydration and inflammation. Though they have many benefits, it’s easy to overdo it, leading to increased sensitivity, irritation, and redness. Fall is the time to switch up your routine and focus on moisturizing and protection. Other skin remedies that strip the skin like fragrance and alcohol should be avoided as well.

6. Use a Hydrating Cleanser

Choose your cleanser wisely. You want one that can remove dirt, dead skin and excess oils but you don’t want to remove all of your natural oils. Those help protect your skin from the cold. Tight, dry, and itchy, skin is a sign your cleanser might be too harsh. Our Land & Lore facial cleanser is gentle yet hydrating and is a good alternative to foaming cleansers.
